We’re from the government…
Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 8:03PM Daily more Americans are learning to fear the words, “We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.” This Reason.tv video reveals how code enforcement agents of Los Angeles County are forcing people off their property in the Antelope Valley region. Agents arrive without warning at homes, often with police, take pictures and issue orders. Most of these desert dwellers are low-income families and the county cites them for “minor, but costly, code violations until they face little choice but to vacate the land altogether.” As noted in the video, “They're picking on the people who are the most defenseless and have the least resources.” Why is Los Angeles County doing this and is this the future for increasing numbers of rural American families?
