Thanksgiving
Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 9:27PM For longer than America has been a nation, Thanksgiving has been a time of reflection and giving thanks to God for the many blessings he has bestowed upon his people and this land. In keeping with that tradition, I offer the following.
I am thankful for my loving wife of 33 years. I am thankful for the two sons she has given me and I am thankful that those sons are honorable and honest young men. Because of those blessings, I am a proud husband and father.
My only regret is that I am far from home today, in Alaska. However, as the rains pour down in the Pacific Northwest, I am thankful that my wife and sons are high up on a hill, out of reach of any possible flood, at our family home in Washington State.
I am thankful for the Founding Fathers who bravely and wisely created this nation and thereby allowed me a voice in government. But, a voice is useless if no one is listening. I am thankful for the readers who now faithfully come to this blog. When I started in March of 2009, I was lucky if I had five readers in a day. I didn’t keep records back then, but I don’t believe I had two hundred monthly readers that first year. Readership has fluctuated, but the trend has always been higher. Today I am thankful for the nearly one thousand readers who visit website every month and who visit our other venues.
