Two Persuasive Videos

Just to stay informed I visit about a dozen news websites and blogs every day.  Sometimes I find a story that becomes a blog post, but most often it never makes it to RuminationsBlog.  It might be an interesting article or video, but if I can’t build a blog post around it, I normally can’t use it.

Today I came across two interesting and persuasive videos by people I’ve known and followed for some time.  As I watched them, it occurred to me that they demonstrate how media is changing. The topics and formats are different, but they both show how new media is supplanting the old.

Pamela Geller regularly discusses the threat of radical Islam on her blog, Atlas Shrugs.  She does a great job of covering the threat so, I rarely mention the issue here.  As her audience has grown, the old media increasingly invite her to speak.  In this video, also posted on her blog, Geller discusses with Bill O’Reilly the building of the $100 million Cordoba Mosque near Ground Zero in New York.  She presents a persuasive argument that the mosque is being built, as many in the past, as a symbol of victory on September 11th.

The second video is by Alfonzo Rachel, a self-described Christian, conservative, Republican, right wing patriot.  His blog is video.  Mixing humor and insightful commentary he gets his message across in a way that is never seen on television.  In this video titled, Flogging Brietbart and Sherrod Charade, Rachel takes on Sherrod and black leaders in a thought provoking one-man show.

Not long ago only corporate giants could reach a mass audience.  Today, if you have a compelling message, as these videos do, and a bit of savvy, you can reach the world.
