Poor Randy
Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 3:05PM Randy Dorn, the state Superintendant of Public Instruction, thinks you are not paying him enough. As an elected state official, he struggles to get by on only $121,618. Poor Randy. While nearly ten percent of Washington workers are unemployed, he thinks you should be taxed to pay him more—a lot more.

Dorn compared his measly six-figure salary with that of Seattle Mariners' Cliff Lee. Lee does earn $9 million from the Seattle Mariners, but there are many differences between the jobs, beyond salary and talent, that Dorn seems not to understand. Perhaps the greatest difference is that Lee brings in more than he is paid. The moment that Lee did not earn his way he will be dropped from the roster and, if he cannot find another team willing to pay him, join the ranks of the unemployed.
While Dorn has been a teacher, principal and elected to the state House of Representatives, according to his bio, he has never worked in the private sector. He needs a better understanding of capitalism, supply and demand and the plight of average Washington State workers. Let’s help him on the road to enlightenment by not re-electing him in 2012.
