Liberals Agree With Me?
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 9:34PM Once in awhile my moderate and left-leaning friends will say they read a blog post here on RuminationsBlog and agree with it, not often, but it does happen. However, when the heavyweights of the political left start agreeing with me I like to step back, examine my position, and find out where I went wrong. I had one of those moments today. The Seattle Times agrees with me on healthcare.
No, I don’t subscribe to the Seattle Times. An acquaintance of mine, attorney and radio host John Panesko, mentioned the change in editorial position on his show and I looked it up online.
Titled, The U.S. House should reject the health care bill and start over, this March 15th editorial states that while the newspaper still supports health care reform, “Right now the government's goal should be the revival of business investment and the creation of private-sector jobs. This cannot be put off. It has to be pursued now, and it has to be President Obama's major concern.” In the next paragraph the editorial board declares, “this bill offers no real control of costs.” I agree.
The editorial concludes with, “At this point, the responsible vote is “no.” Take a break, let the economy recover, and start over.” You won’t hear this often, but I’m compelled to say it today, the position of the Seattle Times is right.
