Unsafe Schools

Kevin Jennings is President Obama’s choice to head the Department of Education Office of Safe Schools.  He is also the founder of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) an organization that establishes clubs in schools across the country for the purpose of promoting the homosexual agenda.  His vision of what a safe school should be is probably not what you would envision.  You probably imagine a place where your children feel safe to learn and ask questions, where they will not be bullied or abused.  But Jennings is quoted in Human Events as stating that for him the goal of safe schools is closely tied to the GLSEN goal of including “a diversity policy that mandates LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] themes in the curriculum.”Kevin Jennings

For Jennings, “The pursuit of safety and affirmation [of homosexuality] are one and the same goal.”  Indeed, the American Principles Project reports that during an on-camera interview he stated that all teachers should be required to undergo LGBT-sensitivity coursework before graduating and being allowed the classroom.  If they did not, he believed, they would be a “threat to children.”  Imagine that, if you are not in tune with the Lesbian and Gay agenda, you are a threat to children.

However, I must report that his beliefs and behaviors are much more out of the American mainstream than even that.  On March 25, 2000, the Massachusetts Department of Education and GLSEN sponsored a conference called “TeachOut” for school students.  MassResistance reports that during the conference, students as young as 12 years-old received instruction in oral sex techniques, masturbation and a homosexual technique called “fisting.” If you do not know what fisting is you almost certainly do not want to know and I will not venture down that sewer in order to explain it.  Fortunately, there were individuals at the conference who did not support this type of education.  They recorded the sessions and later released the recordings to the public.

Kevin Jennings was the Executive Director of GLSEN during the time of the “fistgate” scandal.  He did not dispute the authenticity of the recordings, continued to express his support for the conference and attempted to secure a court order banning the distribution of the tape and suing those who created it.

The actions of Kevin Jennings demonstrate that he is a tireless soldier, but not for safe schools in the sense that the vast majority of Americans would use the term.  I am forced to wonder if Jennings is merely using America’s children as a vehicle to promote his vision of a Gay Lesbian and Transgender society.  President Obama and Secretary Duncan should fire Jennings.

Even though I am a teacher, I increasingly share Mike's sentiment. The government schools are becoming PC factories that are unsafe for traditional values.
